There were ten passengers on the boat and they were going to spend a complete day on an exotic island. The wind started to move the boat and finally the boat turned. People felt really desperate because they thought they were going to die. They didn´t know what to do.
After some minutes, one of the passengers saw a group of dolphins coming in their direction. At first, they were in panic but later they realised those animals were friendly.
Incredibly, those animals helped the group of people and they arrived in the island. They stayed there for three days. They made a shelter with woods and one of them had a penknife in his pocket. The penknife was very useful and they could cut some fruit.
The group of tourists was found by a helicopter and they were really happy to be alive.

Video Games = Electronic Sports?
Since video games appeared on
screen, players have been entertained – and sometimes obsessed – by gaming. One
aspect that has always been present is the notion of competitive gaming, where
players compete against one another to determine a winner and a loser.
Electronic sports or “eSports” is usually defined as a video game that is
played by professionals (alone or in teams), often in front of a huge audience.
Just like spectators watch sports events in stadiums full of people to enjoy a
few athletes compete at the highest level, eSports has developed the same
format. Perhaps, everyone loves a bit of competition and wishes to achieve fame
and glory.
The first eSports event happened
some time ago, in October 1972 at a University in the USA where students
competed playing a video game called “Spacewar”. The prize for the winner was a
subscription to the Rolling Stones magazine. However, it wasn’t until 1980 that
the first video game competition was held: “The Space Invaders Championship”
had great attendance because 10,000 participants played there! This was the
first time eSports appeared on television, radio and newspapers globally.
In the 90s, there was a big change
in the way people used to play games thanks to the beginning of the internet
and the world wide web. The internet did for gaming what it did for
communication; it connected gamers from different places so that now online
competitive gaming was possible.
ESports has come a long way and will
continue to grow because more and more people play video games. Last year,
there were 3765 tournaments all over the world and the total eSports prize
money given was $110.6 million! The biggest prize from just one tournament was
$24.6 million. If you compare this with the first prize that was given in 1972
you can see how this discipline has evolved.
Some people have said that gaming
can never be considered a sport. However, the international Olympic committee
is discussing the possible participation of eSports in the next Olympic Games.
ESports organizers and players explain that video games can be considered
sports because they require long hours of training, excellent skills to play
and planning strategies to win, just like in sports.
1. ESports isn’t always competitive. T / F
2. There
are some similarities between watching a football game live and eSports. T / F
3. At
the first eSports competition winners got lots of money. T / F
4. The
internet didn’t make a difference for the development of eSports. T / F
5.
Everybody thinks that eSports should be considered real sports. T /
